Gareth Taylor hailed Rebecca Knaak’s City debut in our professional 3-0 home win over Ipswich in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Following the German defender’s arrival at the beginning of January from Rosengard, she started and played the full 90 of the triumph which saw us secure passage into fifth round of the historic competition.

Heroic at the back and a dangerous presence in the opposition box, the 2024 Damallsvenskan Defender of the Year showed why the Blues were quick to acquire her services as she also registered an assist for Jill Roord’s opener.

After making a strong tackle in the centre of the pitch, she played a precise pass to the midfielder who then drilled low into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

And Taylor says he’s delighted with how quick Knaak has settled into life at the Joie Stadium.

“I thought she was quality,” he declared.

“I have to give her great credit, she’s a really humble person to work with and she’s going to get the maximum out of her career because she’s so coachable and really there for the team in any situation.

“That performance [today], given the fact that she’s only had a week with us in Abu Dhabi and came into the new environment it tells you that the team has really helped her and that she’s a great personality to work with.”
