Gareth Taylor says his Manchester City squad are determined to take a step towards another cup final when we face Leicester City in FA Women’s Cup on Sunday.

And just a few hours later, we were paired with the current Women’s Super League leaders in the draw for the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

It’s an exciting time for the City players even if resources are being stretched with injuries impacting on the depth of the squad.

But Taylor and his squad are determined to compete for every piece of silverware available with young players making a big impact.

The Foxes, who are the only team to dent Chelsea’s winning streak this season, will be another big test when we meet at the Joie Stadium on Sunday 9 February at 14:00 (UK).

“We’re coping - it’s been a feature all season because of Champions League and running quite a low squad with some significant injuries it’s been all hands to the pump and calling upon young players who could probably do with a bit longer before they’re thrust into the team,” he said.

“They’ve done well, they’ve stood up to the difficulties well and to be in the cup final for us is amazing.

“Now we have an opportunity at the weekend to progress to a quarter-final.

“It’s going to be tough because Leicester are a decent proposition, the only team to take points from Chelsea and that’s testament to them and what they’re doing.

“Back at the Joie Stadium is going to be great in front of our fans and we really appreciated their support in London.”
