The England internationals were each ruled out with knee injuries towards the end of 2024 after enjoying strong starts to the campaign.
Hemp was back on the training pitch last week and Greenwood’s first session took place on Friday, though both are currently still working on an individual basis.
The boss suggested they could each be close to action by the April international break, with the rest of the squad moving in a good direction ahead of Sunday’s WSL clash with Liverpool.
HOW TO WATCH CITY V LIVERPOOL ON TV
“Things are starting to look a little bit better with personnel back, it’d be nice to also have Alex Greenwood and Lauren Hemp. Who knows, hopefully by the next window that comes we could look to see them back,” he said.
“They’re back on the grass at the moment, not with the team, but training more in isolation more. Because we run a small squad, we have numbers but they’re young players from the academy, so having two top class players back like that will really help us.
“There are some positives though with Bunny [Shaw]coming back, Vivianne [Miedema] looking better and obviously the other ones coming through well.
“Aoba [Fujino]’s in good form, Mary [Fowler]’s playing really well, it’s looking good and moving in the right direction.

“It’s hard to say, but Lauren is probably a little bit further ahead than Alex. She was back on pitch last week, Alex had her first on-pitch session today in isolation away from the team.
“They’re so determined to be there for the team and pushing the medical department massively on what the expectations are and the data that’s been set.
“I’ve heard they’re [Lauren and Alex] talking it up a bit about making it sooner, which we’d love because it tells us they really care and want to be there for the team.
“But we have to get that right and that’s why the medical department are where they are.
“They make these calculated decisions on the risk involved on players returning, but it’s good regardless, hopefully when they return to us we’re still in a good place. We’ll see.”
