Gareth Taylor has praised the impact of a resurgent Georgia Stanway whose goals and all-round contribution have helped pilot a superb run of six straight wins in all competitions by City.

Having been deployed in a variety of positions this season to help City cope with several injuries, Stanway has time and again demonstrated her worth, not least when able to venture further forward up the pitch

To that end, she had scored in five consecutive games before last Wednesday’s Continental Cup quarter-final win over Bristol City, chalking up six goals in the process to take her to within one strike of equalling Nikita Parris’s all-time Club record tally of 62.

And, speaking ahead of Sunday’s key FA Women’s Super League clash at home to Arsenal, City boss Taylor hailed Stanway’s huge contribution and said there was even more potential to be unlocked.

“For us Georgia has been great. She’s highly effective wherever she plays. She scored in five straight games before Wednesday (against Bristol) and she probably should have scored again,” said the City boss

“In five of those games, three were from full-back; always the idea with her is to play as high up the pitch as possible.

“She gets more regains, wins the ball back with tenacity, which is really pleasing for me because at this moment she’s showing everyone the player that’s in there.

“She can kick on to the next level which she’s capable of.”
