City boss Gareth Taylor has praised the key role of top scorer Lauren Hemp in City’s drive for success this term, highlighting the way the England striker has lifted her game to new heights.

Hemp has contributed 17 goals so far this season and played a big role in City’s Continental Cup success along with our passage through to the Women’s FA Cup final and push for a top three FA Women’s Super League finish.

And, addressing the media ahead of Saturday’s latest FA Women’s Super League clash at home to Brighton, the City boss was full of praise for Hemp’s contribution to the collective cause.

“Lauren is a top player, she knows she’s taken her game to really high levels,” said the City manager.

“People get drawn into stats and players love them, especially attacking players.

“For me, it’s about more than goals and assists - it’s about what they bring to the team. What she brings with the ball is fantastic – she’s got high energy, and we’re always looking to help her with decision making

“She’s also improved a lot without the ball and that’s a key part of the game. She gives us a lot but Lauren is also very humble and she’s the first to admit she has good players around her who have helped her.”
