Gareth Taylor felt his side deserved more from our 2-1 WSL defeat to Manchester United.

A stoppage time strike from substitute Lucia Garcia earned the hosts all three points at the Leigh Sports Village.

City, who were reduced to ten on the stroke of half-time when Ellie Roebuck fouled Nikita Parris, had levelled midway through the second 45 when Filippa Angeldahl cancelled out Hayley Ladd’s early strike.

However, despite twice hitting the woodwork and creating several other decent sights on goal, our penultimate fixture of the campaign ended in defeat.

It was a result which Taylor felt his players didn’t deserve after a spirited display.

“Really tough, really tough for the players having worked so hard after going down to 10,” the boss reflected.

“I’m really proud of the girls, the effort they gave and the quality they showed in a big pressure game.

“We didn’t start the game well. We gave away a cheap goal but were the team in the ascendancy after that.”
