Women’s football has developed significantly since Manchester City relaunched our team in 2014 and Taylor has been impressed with the progress the sport has made since he took charge of the Club in the summer of 2020.

However, the Welshman, who takes his side to former club Nottingham Forest for an FA Cup fifth round tie on Saturday, says it is crucial the game is given the necessary support to continuously improve.
“I think it’s a term that’s used and sometimes when we use it we think using the term is enough, but it’s support,” he said when asked what more needs to be done at his pre-match press conference.
“General support in making the game better for these young professionals who are really working hard to make a living and make a name for themselves.
“Regardless of levels, or whatever league you sit in, everyone who is in it wants to make it better. That’s the exciting part and it’s something I have a real passion for since coming into the women’s game.
“I see how hard people are working within women’s football, so why shouldn’t we be supported, why shouldn’t we be pushing to make things better, why shouldn’t we get more exposure out there.
“It has changed a lot and we are moving in the right direction. Sometimes with that you can rest on your laurels a little bit but I think we need to grow and continue to grow and push for more.
“That’s something I am certainly doing here. I think everyone within the game at any level should be doing that because it is only right it is deserved.”
