Gareth Taylor says that while he wants to win every game, the result is not crucial in Sunday’s meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.

City face the French giants at 10:10 (UK) in the final of the Perth International Cup, signalling the culmination of our pre-season tour.

We reached this stage by defeating Leicester City on penalties on Wednesday night, while PSG are here thanks to a 1-0 win over West Ham.

Sunday’s game will be available to watch live on mancity.com and our official app with an active CITY+ subscription.

City will begin the journey home on Monday and then return to work at the CFA as the 2024/25 campaign looms.

With a Champions League qualifier to come on 18/19 September and then the start of the Barclays Women’s Super League season that following weekend, there’s a lot for Taylor to consider.

Ahead of that, he agrees it would be nice to get our hand on silverware early but doesn’t believe it’s pivotal in terms of shaping our season.

“It would be nice but it’s not the be all and end all,” he said.

“Any type of competition you go into you want to be competitive and you want to be there fighting until the end.

“If you can win, great. If you don’t, nothing really changes.

“It’s a process for us, pre-season being an important part of helping us to be at our best in the season.”
