Gareth Taylor has described the atmosphere during City’s stellar 2-0 win over Barcelona as ‘the best’ he’s witnessed at the Joie Stadium.

The Blues began our 2024/25 UEFA Women’s Champions League quest with a famous victory over the reining European champions thanks to goals from Naomi Layzell and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw.

A fantastic total of 5,508 supporters packed into the arena to witness the famous triumph which set a new Club record attendance.

And Taylor says the vocal, unconditional support for his team inspired City on a euphoric European night.

“It was a hell of an atmosphere tonight, it was so good,” he declared.

“I think the girls’ performance really dragged the supporters through with them and they really got behind the team and that’s phenomenal to see.

“Certainly the best atmosphere I’ve witnessed at the Joie Stadium, we really appreciate the supporters and hopefully we’ve sent them home happy.

“Hopefully they can turn up in the next few games for us and cheer the girls on again because they were tremendous tonight.”
