Manchester City Women's manager Gareth Taylor believes that his team will bounce back from the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Women's Community Shield at Wembley.

Second-half goals from Millie Bright and Erin Cuthbert secured the victory for the London side after City’s Jill Scott was dismissed for two bookable offences with 28 minutes remaining.

However, despite the loss, Taylor feels that his team will dust themselves off and go again ahead of the return of the WSL next weekend.

“I thought it was a good game up until Jill’s sending off and that changes things,” he said. “But that’s sometimes the way it is.

“We’ve got plenty of things to work on but we have to dust ourselves off and go again next weekend.

“We’ll remain level, we’ll keep working day in day out and continue looking forward to our objectives this season.”
