Gareth Taylor says he’s encouraged by City’s unbeaten home record across the entirety of the 2022/23 season.

City signed off our campaign with a 3-2 Barclays Women’s Super League victory over Everton which extended our run without loss at the Academy Stadium to 14 in all competitions this term.

Across these home fixtures we have impressively claimed 12 victories and drawn just twice.

It’s a strong reflection of the progress we’ve made and the ability we have within our squad, despite narrowly missing out on a UEFA Champions League place on goal difference this season.

There’s no doubt we’ll look to take the positives from 2022/23 into next term, and the boss says he was pleased to finish the season with three points in front of our passionate supporters.

“Really pleased to win the game. It’s not easy against Everton,” Taylor said.

“They come out, regardless of what the score is and where the game is at, they really come out, engage, press and put you under pressure.

“They then try to play through you when they have the ball. It was a good game for us, I think we saw some of the best sides of us, then some wasteful stuff as well.

“I felt in the first half we really built well and got to the final third, but had more moments rather than actual opportunities.

“We spoke about it at half-time, I said ‘we need more from the wingers and the front players in the final actions’.

“I thought the first 15 minutes of the second half was great, scored some good goals and we made changes that potentially left us a little bit open. We conceded a couple of sloppy things.

“But, overall, to complete a full season unbeaten at home is really impressive. I was pleased with a lot of the football we had today.”
