Gareth Taylor hailed the performances of Manchester City’s exciting youngsters following our 3-0 victory over Paris FC in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Round Two qualifying second leg.

The success over the French side meant we secured passage into the group stage of the competition with an aggregate score of 8-0 following our emphatic 5-0 win at Stade Charlety eight days ago.

During the deciding clash at the Joie Stadium, summer signing Naomi Layzell made her debut and was joined in the starting line-up by Laura Blindkilde Brown.

Academy products Lily Murphy and Gracie Prior were then introduced during the second half and delivered assured displays to help the Blues to victory.

And Taylor was impressed by their individual performances on the European stage.

“It is [exciting times for the young players]. What a game for these guys to play in,” he expressed.

“[For] Naomi [Layzell] to make her debut in the Champions League is great, of course, she did really well.

“Then Lily Murphy came on last week and looked really dangerous when she came on.

“Gracie Prior as well looked really calm and composed. You wouldn’t have thought it was her first [professional] game.

“I thought they were really top performances tonight.”
