Gareth Taylor says he’s delighted with the options at his disposal this season following City’s professional 2-0 win over West Ham.

Goals from Lauren Hemp and Mary Fowler either side of half-time extended our unbeaten start to the season to five straight matches in all competitions.

Amid a busy schedule which sees the Blues welcome Barcelona to the Joie Stadium on Wednesday ahead of Sunday’s trip to Anfield, the boss made five changes against Rehanne Skinner’s side from the team who beat Brighton a week before.

This saw Jill Roord make her first start in eight months after her return from injury while Laura Blindkilde Brown, Leila Ouahabi, Chloe Kelly and Fowler came into the first XI.

And Taylor says every player within City’s squad will play an important role in 2024/25 as we compete on four fronts.

“I’m really pleased [with the win.]”, he expressed.

REPORT | CITY 2-0 WEST HAM

“A clean sheet again and we’ve started off the season well, particularly here at the Joie Stadium. It’s always nice to have back-to-back home games and we have a couple more to come before the international break.

“I’m really pleased. We changed a few things obviously with new personnel coming in. We have to patient in letting them settle and finding their rhythm.

“Second half I felt we needed that injection from the sidelines and we got that with Bunny [Shaw] and Aoba [Fujino]. We’ve got improved options I feel this season now which is going to help the team.

“Sometimes we’ve been really trying to push that [importance within the whole squad]. The modern game is not the XI starters are going to be the ones to finish the game.

“We have starters and finishers, we have players who don’t get a look-in today – Jess Park is an example who is nursing a slight knock – she’ll be fine. Laura Coombs.

“We’ve still got really good players there who are able to be a part of this and they need to be ready on every single moment because we’re never sure what the game is going to give us.”
