The City boss said that there would be nobody he would rather have in that position in front of goal after Lauren Hemp worked the ball to her.
The attacking midfielder took one touch before thundering past Sabrina D’Angelo, giving City the advantage for the first time of the afternoon.
It represented Roord’s maiden goal since returning from an ACL injury, adding to Hemp’s equaliser, who lobbed the ball over her shoulder and past the Villa keeper.
And Taylor praised Roord’s strength to play the full-match and pushed her to build on the confidence after this afternoon’s goal.
“I obviously gave her a hug at the end because I’m super proud of her,”the City boss began.
“Pushing her for another 90 minutes today, is not ideally what we want, but sometimes when players get into the rhythm like that you’ve got to make sure they’re in there.
“She certainly made it count today and I think for her it’s about confidence because as an attacking midfielder you’re always looking for goals and assists.
“Now she’s almost got that monkey off her back a little bit with the goals, she can settle and build from there”
