Gareth Taylor has described some of City’s play during a 4-1 Barclays Women’s Super League win over Liverpool as ‘exceptional’.

Goals from Lauren Hemp, Jess Park and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw helped us cruise into a three-goal lead inside 25 minutes at Prenton Park as we secured a 12th successive WSL win.

Shaw added a fourth early in the second 45 to ensure Liverpool’s late strike was merely a consolation.

The win moved City back to the top of the WSL table, and Taylor was delighted with his side’s performance as our title pursuit continues to gather pace.

He said: “I thought it was a great win. I thought we played some exceptional stuff at times, particularly in that period of scoring three goals.

“They were all good goals, and we appreciate every time we hit the net, but the second [Park’s] was us in a nutshell. The directional play, the timing of the movement and then Jess finished it off really well.

“We’re super pleased, we were a little disappointed to concede but that’s how far this team has come, we have really high standards.

“This is a tricky place to come, so we’re satisfied with the performance and the result.”
