Fresh from scoring four in our 8-1 Women’s FA Cup victory over Bristol City last weekend, the 25-year-old claimed a second consecutive match ball after hitting three against Rehanne Skinner’s side, as we came from a goal down to seal three points.
Not only did the trio move her three clear at the top of the Barclays Women’s Super League scoring charts (13), but she’s now matched Nikita Parris’ Club record of most goals in all competitions in a term (24).
And the boss sung the praises of Bunny and our entire squad after dispatching the Londoners at the Academy Stadium.
“She’s [Bunny] done really well, she’s a constant threat in this team and her goals have been really important for us, there’s no doubt about that,” Taylor said.
“You really fancy her to go on and beat that record or be clear in that record by herself.
“Like I’ve said previously, it’s a team game. The players who support her. I think Hasegawa was top again today.
“Such an important player for the team and good intelligence in there. Like I say, Chloe was a threat in the second half, Lauren was doing her bit on the wings and that really helps Bunny.”
The meeting with Spurs also represented Gareth Taylor’s 100th match in charge of our Women’s team, since taking the reins in May 2020.
Since then, he’s guided us to FA Cup (2021) and Continental Cup glory (2022) while overseeing second and third-placed finishes in his two full seasons in charge.
And Taylor was pleased to celebrate the landmark with three points.
He added: “Yeah nice. Someone mentioned it to me yesterday and I wasn’t too sure what it was. 100 games in total I think, which is nice.
“I’m really pleased to be here at home and here with a win.”
