The 18-year-old, who recently returned from a loan spell with Coventry United due to Sandy MacIver’s injury, played the entirety of the victory over the Londoners.
It represented her first top flight start of 2022/23 and the England youth international stepped up to the plate fantastically as City collected three points at the Academy Stadium.
This was perfectly reflected when she produced a phenomenal first-half save to deny the Hammers’ Lisa Evans from close range when she reacted well and pounced to her left to divert the ball away from danger.
And Taylor said he had no apprehensions about starting the teenager in the WSL fixture.
“I know it’s not easy for a young player to come in like that, but I had no concerns whatsoever,” he explained.
“She was calm. Calm with her distribution, she was calm in possession, she came and took crosses, she made good saves.
“She did more than we would want her to. We’re disappointed as a team to conceded the two goals, I think the second one she made a really good save as well so we could’ve helped her with that.
“I think, overall, [I’m] really pleased. It’s so difficult when you haven’t played for such a long time and the last time we saw her play was probably over a season ago.
“Really pleased. [She] came in and showed calmness and composure.”
