Gareth Taylor has warned against complacency as City begin our defence of the Women’s FA Cup with a fourth round clash against Aston Villa.

We welcome the Villans to the Academy Stadium for a 12:00 (UK) kick-off on Saturday 17 April, with a fifth round tie against West Ham or Chichester and Selsey up for grabs.

City will be keen to hit the heights of January’s convincing 7-0 WSL triumph over our opponents when we lock horns once again, but Taylor insists a win is far from a foregone conclusion.

“We are playing to win. You can’t underestimate these teams,” he said ahead of our FA Cup forth round tie against Aston Villa.

“We want to defend our cup. When we restart next season we want to be in the position to fight for every honour.

“In terms of the team, we will be as strong as we possibly can be.

“They have some dangerous players, some intelligent players, it’s going to be more about how we deal with those threats.

“They will make it difficult, we understand that, it will be about for us how we impose ourselves.

“It is a game we are looking forward to. But it is difficult. If you are not at the races for any moment you can be dumped out of the competition.”
