Gareth Taylor believes Khiara Keating’s Golden Glove prize is a result of her meticulous hard work and sparkling talent.

The annual award recognises the goalkeeper who has recorded the most clean sheets across the Barclays Women’s Super League season.

Heading into our final fixture of the term, a trip to Aston Villa, the 19-year-old currently has nine shutouts which is a tally that can’t be matched.

This has helped Manchester City possess the best defensive record in the division after conceding just 14 goals across 21 outings.

Keating has played in all our league assignments this term and has appeared 28 times in all competitions.

And Taylor says City are proud of our defensive record as we look to win a second-ever WSL title before the shutters fall on 2023/24.

“It [the Golden Glove] says a lot about her and how she has come into the team and imposed herself,” he declared.

“There was a lot of conversation around her and being so young. The way she has adapted has been really good.

“There have been contributing factors that have allowed her to be her very best but her talent has taken her to where she is.

“Our goals against record is something we are proud of. We work tremendously hard in that space.

“Last season we conceded 25. To cut that down has been imperative in being where we are. Every little thing we give away frustrates us because we work so hard to deny that.”
