Gareth Taylor has hailed City’s 'amazing' support as he looks forward to this weekend’s match with Brighton.

City are in red-hot form at present, having won seven games in succession across all competitions, five in the WSL and two in the Continental Cup.

The boss is looking for more of the same from his players as we host Albion on Sunday with a 14:00 (UK time) kick-off.

And he can’t wait to be back on home soil at the Academy Stadium.

He said: “We are happy to be home.

“Last Sunday, even though it was a Continental Cup game, it felt like a long period since we’ve been on home turf and was really nice for us.

“We are really looking forward to the game on Sunday.

“Hopefully, we get a decent crowd behind us.

“The support, at the moment, has been amazing – certainly at home but definitely away as well.

“I think that’s been a big thing for us and the players have spoken about the importance of our supporters.”

City face Albion, who have been involved in several free-scoring games of late – a 3-3 home draw with Liverpool and a 5-4 away win at West Ham.

Taylor is expecting a difficult clash against a team that are without a Head Coach since the departure last month of Hope Powell.

He added: “They are a difficult team to play against.

“They are scoring goals and conceding goals as well.

“They’ve been in some high scoring games with West Ham and Liverpool.

“With Hope leaving, I don’t see too many real changes in what they do and how they operate.

“There are no easy games in the WSL.”

CITY V UNITED: ETIHAD DERBY

City welcome Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 11 December.

Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 (UK), with tickets selling fast for our third-ever women’s match at the Etihad.

We hosted Everton there back in May 2014, before welcoming our local rivals in September 2019, when Caroline Weir’s wonder strike saw us run out 1-0 winners in front of what was then a WSL record crowd, and what remains a club record of 31, 213 fans.

With almost 40,000 tickets already sold, it promises to be another historic occasion.

You can secure your tickets online by visiting: www.mancity.com/tickets/womens or by calling: +44 (0)161 444 1894.
