Gareth Taylor says Lauren Hemp could feature in our Continental Cup clash with Liverpool, while Vicky Losada is also nearing a return to action.

Hemp has been sidelined with a thigh complaint since our 3-0 triumph away to Reading, but the boss revealed that she had returned to training last week.

Losada, meanwhile, last featured when she found the net in a 6-0 win over Blackburn in our first Continental Cup match of the season.

With the Manchester derby looming, their return to the fold would provide a welcome boost as we set our sights on leapfrogging Liverpool at the top of Group B.

“The mood’s really good. I think it’s just about the players focusing on this game,” Taylor explained ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Prenton Park.

“They’re very good in that respect of managing what’s in front of them rather than what’s coming.

“The selection numbers are really good. The squad’s looking fairly healthy at the moment.

“There’s a real chance that Lauren [Hemp] will feature and Vicky Losada is getting closer as well.

Alanna Kennedy has also got some more training minutes under her belt [after making her return from injury against Sunderland], so we’re in pretty good shape.”

CITY V UNITED: ETIHAD DERBY

City welcome Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 11 December.

Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 (UK), with tickets selling fast for our third-ever women’s match at the Etihad.

We hosted Everton there back in May 2014, before welcoming our local rivals in September 2019, when Caroline Weir’s wonder strike saw us run out 1-0 winners in front of what was then a WSL record crowd, and what remains a club record of 31, 213 fans.

With over 40,000 tickets already sold, it promises to be another historic occasion.

You can secure your tickets online by visiting: www.mancity.com/tickets/womens or by calling: +44 (0)161 444 1894.
