The Blues lock horns with our rivals at Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday 22 January at 19:00 (UK) with a spot in the League Cup last four up for grabs.
City were beaten 4-2 by United when the sides met in the Barclays Women’s Super League at the weekend, with a revival before the break scuppered by an early second half strike from the visitors to complete the scoring.
Taylor felt our performance at the Etihad was uncharacteristic of his side’s usual brand of football, but insisted his players are relishing the chance to get back out there and show what we can do once again.
He said: “We trust in what we do and I always say I’m responsible for how we play in the good and bad times.
“To change that isn’t in my blood, it’s evident players want to come here because of our style, we don’t do it to be smart, we do it because we feel it’s productive and allows us to arrive in the final third together as a team.
“The stats between both boxes were pretty emphatic in our favour but the one massive stat was the result.
“We have an opportunity now, not to right wrongs because United deserved their moment in terms of the pressure they put on us and we needed to deal with that better.
“It’ll be a tight affair, both teams want to progress to the semis. It’s the perfect game for us, we’re excited to go there and strike back.”
