Our match against Liverpool on Sunday 21 January at 14:30 (UK) not only signals our first Barclays Women’s Super Legue assignment of 2024, but also represents the midway point in the campaign.
Heading into the clash, we sit second in the league table, only three points behind current league leaders Chelsea, in what’s shaping up to be a thrilling title race.
The Blues are also fighting on two more fronts after securing passage into the fifth round of the FA Cup last time out with a 4-0 win at Durham, while harbouring ambitions of reaching the knockout phase of the Continental Cup.
Following our meeting with Matt Beard’s side this weekend, we host Manchester United on 24 January, live on CITY+, knowing a victory will secure top spot in Group B of the League Cup.

Taylor explained he’s certainly pleased with what he’s seen from his side so far this term, but expressed his desire to navigate the rest of the schedule one game at a time.
“It’s hard not to say we’re halfway through having had the Christmas break. The biggest thing for me is we’re second, three points behind Chelsea and in a group of teams where the competition levels have really risen,” he expressed.
“But what I would say is to really highlight the way we were playing, the way we’re dominating games.
“The majority of games we’ve played this season we’ve been the team that has been really dominant.
“We’re going to have good moments, difficult moments, but I’ve impressed with the way the players have handled those games so far.
“What we’ve done is give ourselves a good opportunity to go and attack things in the second half of the season which we will.
“I don’t look beyond Sunday’s game and it’s so easy to be able to do that.
“There will be some consideration [towards the Manchester United Conti Cup match] but that’s as big as it gets for us. We have to take care of Sunday’s game and then see the fall out into Monday morning.
“We have really good options. A lot of players who are really knocking on the door but the players with shirts at the moment are producing.
“You have to say, sometimes that team will change through slight injuries, loss of form or where we decide to change certain symmetry on the right or left side and sequences.
“Perhaps we want a player to do a specific role who might be able to do that better than another.
“We have to make them feel valued so when they are ready to play, they are really ready. For me it’s concentrating on Sunday’s game and looking no further than that.”
