Gareth Taylor has explained the important impact that City’s supporters have had on our season to date.

Sunday’s Continental Cup encounter with Sunderland – which is available to watch live on CITY+ and Recast – will be our first home fixture since 30 October.

City came out on top against Liverpool on that occasion, with over 4,000 supporters in attendance at the Academy Stadium.

And the boss has heaped praise on the consistent levels of support he has seen from the fans across the campaign, whether it be on home soil or on the road.

“The supporters have been amazing,” he declared ahead of this weekend’s clash.

“I really wanted to make a note of our appreciation to what they bring.

“You never expect an away support to be heard so well but at Everton, they were amazing.

“We could really hear them, and we really appreciate the support.

“They’re a huge part of what we try to do and achieve, they understand what we’re trying to do as a Club and their support is huge.

“We’ve seen a real upshot in numbers this season and that can only be good for the game and for us as a Club.”

CITY V UNITED: ETIHAD DERBY

City welcome Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 11 December.

Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 (UK), with tickets selling fast for our third-ever women’s match at the Etihad.

We hosted Everton there back in May 2014, before welcoming our local rivals in September 2019, when Caroline Weir’s wonder strike saw us run out 1-0 winners in front of what was then a WSL record crowd, and what remains a club record of 31, 213 fans.

With over 30,000 tickets already sold, it promises to be another historic occasion.

You can secure your tickets online by visiting: www.mancity.com/tickets/womens or by calling: +44 (0)161 444 1894.
