The City and England midfielder netted an absolute rocket to level the score at St Andrew’s - a crucial moment in a topsy-turvy, five-goal thriller with Gareth Taylor’s side snatching all three points late on.

The 22-year-old, standing in at right-back, collected Caroline Weir‘s pass 30 yards out and took a touch before unleashing an unstoppable effort past Marie Hourihan to make it 1-1.

Stanway was one of eight contenders for the award and beat out Deanne Rose (Reading v Chelsea), Frida Maanum (Arsenal v Leicester), Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal v Leicester), Vilde Bøe Risa (Manchester United v Brighton), Sophie Howard (Leicester v Birmingham), Lucy Staniforth (Manchester United v Aston Villa) and Jessica Naz (Tottenham Hotspur v Everton) for the prize.
