New signing Hayley Raso says that joining City was 'an opportunity she couldn’t turn down', adding she was hugely excited to be joining Gareth Taylor’s squad.

The Australian international has penned a two-year deal with the Club, committing her to the Academy Stadium until the summer of 2023.

Having spent the past 18 months playing with Everton, Raso – who starred with Australia at the recent Tokyo Olympics – is also armed with extensive experience of the FA Women’s Super League.

And, in her first interview with CityTV, Raso – who normally operates as a winger but can also be deployed both as a full-back or striker - couldn’t disguise her joy at joining the Club.

“When I got the call from Gareth it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down,” the 26-year-old declared.

“I’ve seen the way the wingers play here with a fast, aggressive style. I like that and feel I can fit into this team.

“City are always so tough to play against so to be on the other side and joining the Club is something I’m really looking forward to.

“I think this Club can win the title and I think this Club can compete for the Champions League. I definitely think we’ll be up there (competing for trophies) and I’m looking forward to being a part of that.”
