Jill Roord discusses her impressive start at City, a memorable World Cup and life away from the pitch.

The midfielder was instrumental in Sunday’s victory over West Ham United in our first Barclays Women’s Super League clash of the season.

She even marked her competitive debut for City with a goal, turning expertly away from the hosts’ defence before slotting into the far corner of the net.

It was the goal her performance deserved, with Gareth Taylor‘s side going on to win 2-0 in London.

Roord is no stranger to finding the net, having done so four times for Holland during the 2023 Women’s World Cup, the most of any Dutch player in a single tournament.

The midfielder discusses the record in the above interview, but the conversation eventually turns back towards Manchester.

It’s a city which our number 20 has taken an instant shine to, helped in no small part by the close bond she’s already forged with her new team-mates.

Roord also looks ahead to our first home game of the season against Chelsea, a fixture she admits she’s excited to be involved in.

Records were broken, reputations were forged, and an exciting young squad showed they could go toe-to-toe with the best that England has to offer.

Our cameras were there every step of the way, capturing the thrills and spills of a compelling WSL title race which went down to the wire.
