Codie and Lily’s opponents were Alex and Grace, former CITC participants and now both full-time members off staff.
Alex began her CITC journey as a participant on the One City Disability programme. From there, she went on to volunteer on the 93:20 programme and has now secured a part time role on City Kicks.
Grace’s journey started as a City Girls participant, where she learnt about the CITC BTEC course at Connell college which she went on to complete. Throughout her time on the BTEC course, Grace volunteered for City Girls and One City Disability.

On 8th March each year, International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
The questions, sent in by CITC female participants, centred around Women’s history, as well as CITC’s City Girls programme.
But there could only be one winner.
Amongst all the friendly competition both pairs learnt a lot about International Women’s Day, and CITC’s role in supporting girls and women all year round.
After the quiz, Lily explained why she felt the sessions that CITC put on are so important for girls:
“I think it’s a good opportunity for girls to come with their friends, express themselves, experience no pressure, and just have fun essentially.”
With 74 sessions delivered between September 2024 and February 2025, the City Girls project engages female participants with free football training, leadership, and mentoring opportunities.
Through after-school clubs and community sessions,167 girls across Manchester have the regular opportunity to play for free with CITC from September 2024 and February 2025.
