A legend of City's past helping to guide our stars of the future...

Izzy Christiansen made over 100 appearances for City between 2014 and 2018, and was an integral part of our first-ever professional side.

It was her header which brought home our first piece of silverware in a 1-0 League Cup final win over Arsenal, and she’d go on to win every available domestic honour with the Blues before joining Olympique Lyonnais.

THE INSPIRING STORIES BEHIND CITY’S NEW RECRUITS

Perhaps rather surprisingly given she was still just 31 at the time, Christiansen decided to hang up her boots at the end of the 2022/23 campaign. Rather fittingly, her final professional game was at the Joie Stadium as Everton faced City on the final day of the Barclays Women’s Super League campaign.

But the 2015/16 PFA Players’ Player of the Year has since began a hugely successful media career, already becoming one of the game’s most respected and insightful pundits.

It’s not enough for Christiansen, though, who has also continued to scratch that footballing itch by turning her hand to coaching.

And it’s that opportunity which has brought her back to City, where she currently helps coach our Under-16 Girls’ team.

Our cameras went down to one of her sessions to see Izzy in action, and hear more about why she wants to help inspire the next generation of female talent.
