Jess Park says City’s opening pre-season clash with Leicester City can set the tone for the 2024/25 campaign.

Our midfielder was one of the breakout stars of last term, becoming one of the key members in Gareth Taylor’s team as we were narrowly pipped to the Barclays Women’s Super League title.

Now, City are in Australia preparing for the new season, which begins with a Champions League qualifier on 18 or 19 September before a trip to Arsenal in the Barclays Women’s Super League that following weekend.

Having been hard at work in Western Australia for the best part of a week, City now head into the Perth International Football Cup with a semi-final clash against the Foxes.

Kicking off at 11:15 (UK), the match is available to watch on mancity.com and our official app with an active CITY+ subscription.

The winner will go through to face Paris Saint-Germain or West Ham United on Sunday 1 September, with the losers of the two semi-finals also meeting.

While pre-season is all about fitness and working on new ideas, Park also knows what a victory in this competition could do for confidence.

“It’s really important,” she began.

“We always go out to win every single game we play and we want to start how we mean to go on.

“I’m really excited to get into the game tomorrow with the girls. It’s been a few months now since we played together and I’m ready to be back.”
