A look at the initial weeks that followed Jill Roord's ACL surgery in the latest City Studios documentary.

‘Roord to Recovery’ documents the remarkable journey our midfielder went on to return from a ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament in just eight months.

The Dutch international went down under a challenge from Katie Zelem in a League Cup clash with Manchester United in January 2024, and the prognosis was bleak.

That first week after learning of the rupture was, according to Roord, the most difficult time of her rehabilitation.

A midfielder so used to being able to handle anything thrown at her on the pitch with a class and swagger was now left with a painstaking recovery process, and one that she couldn’t do on her own.

After a rest period to allow the swelling to subside followed surgery, the journey was well under way, and this exclusive clip from ‘Roord to Recovery’ documents those initial stages of Jill’s comeback.

Including reflections on her post-surgery emotions and the first major milestones on her return, the above provides a flavour of Roord’s determination to come back stronger than ever before.
