Jill Roord insists there will be plenty of opportunities for City to bounce back after our first WSL defeat of the season.

Late goals from Mayra Ramirez and Guro Reiten saw Chelsea come away with a 2-0 win from a hotly anticipated clash between the league’s top two sides.

It meant City fell to defeat for the first time this season in all competitions, but Roord felt the Blues did enough to gain a result on another day.

And with the current campaign slowly reaching the halfway stage, she says the loss won’t define our title pursuit.

“No [this game doesn’t define our season], not at all,” she reflected.

“We knew coming in to this game that we wanted to win, obviously it was an important game and I think we could have [won it].

“But in the end it didn’t go our way. Still, there’s a long time util the season is done.”
