The Dutch international moved to the Academy Stadium in early July on a three-year deal from Champions League finalists VFL Wolfsburg.
A creative midfielder who has won titles for both club and country, Roord adds a wealth of experience and a winners’ mentality to an exciting young City squad ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
She will also join City team-mate Kerstin Casparij as part of the Netherlands squad at this summer’s World Cup having helped her nation reach the final in 2019.

And after conducting her first interview as a member of Gareth Taylor‘s side, Roord sat down with City Studios for a more light-hearted conversation around her new team.
Indeed, the midfielder showed an impressive knowledge of her new surroundings, and expressed her personal excitement ahead of linking up with stars such as Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, Chloe Kelly and Steph Houghton.
After being quizzed on our performance during the 2022/23 campaign, the Dutch international then briefly reflected on her experience of facing City during her time at Arsenal.
Finally, she took part in a classic ‘what happened next’ round, including footage from matches and training from the past 12 months.
