Jill Roord says it’s imperative Manchester City don’t underestimate anyone in this season's Women’s Champions League.

Gareth Taylor’s side continue our Group D quest with a trip to Austria on Wednesday 16 October to lock horns with St Polten.

We enter the continental clash in fantastic form having recorded seven straight matches without loss at the start of the term in all competitions, comprised of six wins and one draw.

This includes our stellar 2-0 triumph over reigning European champions Barcelona in our previous Champions League outing where goals from Naomi Layzell and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw secured the success.

St Polten, meanwhile, narrowly lost 2-0 to Hammarby in the first fixture but are also enjoying a seven straight match unbeaten run domestically.

And Roord believes City’s best chance of collecting three points in Vienna is by maintaining the high standards we’ve already set so far this term.

“I’ve played many teams but I’ve never played them. I don’t know much about them. I will find out in a minute in the team meeting,” she admitted.

“I think it’s important we look at ourselves which we always do. If we play with the same intensity we did on the weekend, and we play our game we should win that game.

“But we should not underestimate anyone, especially not in the Champions League.

“So I think it’s important we show the same intensity from minute one and we should be fine.”
