Jill Roord hailed Manchester City’s ‘dominant’ display, as she marked her competitive debut with a goal in a 2-0 win over West Ham United.

The Dutch international doubled our advantage just before the hour with a clinical finish, curling home after breaking in behind with a smart turn from Laia Aleixandri’s pass.

Gareth Taylor’s side had taken the lead inside five minutes of the restart at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, with Lauren Hemp curling home from the edge of the box to hand us the lead.

And Roord felt City were full value for the victory, even after having Leila Ouahabi sent off with around 20 minutes still to play.

“I think we had the control and even in the last five or ten minutes had the ball a lot,” she reflected.

“That says a lot about how dominant we are as a team.

“I’m super happy about the win. I think the way we played. We were good, dominant.

“It was a very good game.”
