Julie Blakstad insists her first goal for City was fully intentional!

The Norwegian, making just her second start in sky blue since joining in January, added City’s third of the game in our 4-0 rout of Leicester with a cross-shot that rocketed into the top corner.

Speaking to mancity.com and asked whether she had been aiming for goal, she laughed: “Yeah, we can say that!

“It’s always fun to score goals. It was a good performance today. We wanted to score more goals but it was a good win and that’s the most important thing.”

Occupying the full-back role, Blakstad combined well with second goalscorer Lauren Hemp and says she is enjoying bedding into City’s style.

“It’s good,” she reflected. “I had the opportunity to start and I appreciate that, coming more and more into the team. It’s getting better every day and the girls are so kind, which is really nice.

“Lauren is a really good player. It’s easy to find her out there and I enjoy playing with her.

“We just have to keep going. It’s going to be a tough few games. United are just ahead of us. I hope we’re going to beat them in the second half [of the season].

“We’re aiming for [two trophies and a Champions League place]. We have good opportunities. The FA Cup Final is going to be amazing and going to Wembley, we’ll really look forward to that.

“I hope to score more goals!”
