The 25-year-old has become our latest summer signing, joining from Brighton & Hove Albion and penning a two-year deal at the Joie Stadium.
It follows her emergency loan spell with Gareth Taylor’s side during the final six weeks of last season after Sandy MacIver’s injury ruled her out for the campaign’s climax.
During the 25-year-old’s spell with City in 2023/24, she provided expert competition for Khiara Keating as we fiercely battled for the Barclays Women’s Super League title
And Startup is aiming to implement her learnings from her previous stint in sky blue upon her return to Manchester.

“I think I learnt a lot on the pitch over those six weeks,” she explained.
“Staff wise but also mainly players as well because they’re the ones you’re communicating the most with on the pitch.
“I took a lot of learning from those. I always try to be a sponge and soak up everything so [I received] a lot of really helpful feedback during that loan and I expect the same really.
“I just want to learn off everyone, it’s such a high standard of a group, I’ll probably be facing some difficult shots I suspect. You’re not light on star quality strikers [at City].
“[I’m] excited to test myself in with the group. For me, personally, I set my goals by my own personal growth on pitch and off pitch.
“I’m always really trying to improve day to day, week to week but I think it’s a bit idealistic to say you’re going to improve every single day, but everyday I can learn something.
“If I can do that and come away from everyday feeling like I’ve learned something, and I can put that into practice, then I’ll be happy come the end of the season.”
