Bunny Shaw says she knew her spectacular goal from distance against Liverpool was destined for the top corner as soon as it left her boot.

The Jamaican, fresh from becoming City’s record scorer last week, grabbed perhaps the most spectacular of her 70 goals for the Club at Prenton Park.

Flicking the ball around Gemma Bonner, the forward unleashed a vicious 25-yard drive into the top corner to make it 3-0 inside 24 minutes.

City would go on to win 4-1 and make it 12 successive WSL victories in the process, but Shaw’s moment of brilliance was the standout moment for Gareth Taylor’s side.

“I don’t quite remember it, but what I do [remember] is the ball bounced up and I just told myself I was going to hit it as clean and as hard as possible,” she reflected.

“As soon as it left my foot, I saw it nestle in the top corner. I was behind it so definitely saw it going there.

“But, overall it was a great team performance.

“In the first 10 minutes we were a bit loose but then when we got some passes in and the momentum we built in confidence and took over.

“I think coming here, we wanted to get the win with the international break, and we got it so we’re happy.”
