Laia Aleixandri and Leila Ouahabi catch up about the season, life in Manchester and their footballing journeys on a walk around the City Football Academy.

Both regulars in a City defence which boasts the best record in the Barclays Women’s Super League this season, the Spanish duo have played a key role in City’s push for the title.

And in the above video, the pair chat about their journeys into football, which both involved working their way through the ranks at FC Barcelona in their native Spain.

However, both faced new challenges early in their professional careers, with Ouahabi spending three years at Valencia and Aleixandri moving to Atletico Madrid.

Ouahabi would return to Barcelona in 2016, where she would go on to win the Treble in her final season.

The defender chats in detail about that campaign, and the origin of her butterfly tattoo, which she shares with former team-mate Patricia Guijarro to mark the incredible moment of winning the UEFA Champions League.

In the summer of 2022, she and Aleixandri, who won two Primera Division titles during her time at Atletico, both made the move to City, and the duo chat about the different adaptations they’ve had to make to life in Manchester.

However, they also discuss how much they’re enjoying their experience in the Barclays Women’s Super League, a competition which they believe is the best in the world.
