Laia Aleixandri says Manchester City’s footballing philosophy was a key factor in her decision to join the Club.

An exciting prospect, the defender joins City on a three-year-deal from Atletico Madrid, becoming our third summer signing in the process.

The 21-year-old is also set to feature at this summer’s European Championships having been named as part of Spain’s provisional squad ahead of the tournament.

In her first interview as a City player, Aleixandri explained how our footballing ethos can help her maximise her potential.

“The Club has a very similar philosophy to the way I like to play, which will help me to play to my full potential, and hopefully I can help the team,” she said.

“I’d say tactically I’m very intelligent and I like to play out with the ball at my feet.

“I’ve been lucky enough to share a few words with (Gareth Taylor) and we’ve talked about football and the future of next season. It went very well.

“Gareth has always tried to explain the values and the philosophy of the Club which is something that won me over and caught my eye.”
