Laia Aleixandri is excited for City to show what we’re capable of on a European stage ahead of our Champions League qualifier with Paris FC.

Gareth Taylor’s side are 90 minutes from reaching the full competition for the first time since 2020/21 and hold a healthy 5-0 aggregate lead ahead of Thursday’s second leg at the Joie Stadium.

Aleixandri’s first competitive City fixtures came in the competition back in 2022, but she’s relishing the opportunity to face Europe’s elite once again in blue.

With Arsenal also vying to reach the group stages alongside Chelsea, the Spain international believes we can replicate our league form in the Champions League, and reinforce the WSL’s reputation on the continent in the process.

“I think if more English teams are in the group stage it reflects the good work here in the league and the levels we are showing,” she told the media during a pre-match press conference.

“It’s not just showing the level in the league, it’s one step more doing it in the Champions League.

“It’s a special goal for us to show this personality in the Champions League. It’s going to be amazing.

“I think right now this league, the English league, is the best one in the world. So, we need to have more clubs in the Champions League.

“But I think it’s going to be super good for the Champions League and group stage if we are there and can show our quality that we have.”
