Lauren Hemp is excited by what Manchester City can achieve in the upcoming seasons after signing a contract extension keeping her at the Club until the summer of 2027.

The England winger has been a vital part of our Barclays Women’s Super League challenge this season as we go toe-to-toe with Chelsea for the title.

With three games remaining, City are three points ahead and have a slightly better goal difference, although the defending champions have played a game fewer.

After a run of 13 straight victories, Hemp is enjoying the run-in and the possibility of winning her first WSL title after lifting the FA Cup and Continental Cup during her time at the Joie Stadium.

And the 23-year-old is also looking forward to challenging for more trophies after signing her three-year extension, including testing herself at the top level in the Champions League.

“We’ve got an exciting few years, especially this season we’ve got a league we’re competing for,” she said.

“That’s so exciting to be involved in and makes you more hungry to keep going.

“In the past few years we’ve come close and not quite got there yet but I truly believe we can do that this season.

“I also want to be involved in the Champions League, that’s a special tournament to be a part of.

“I want to do that and go on and win it as well, I feel I’m very ambitious but we can go and do that at City.

“I think this team probably don’t realise how much we’re capable of. Over the next few years, that’s possible.”

The news that Hemp will be at City for at least another three seasons will be enthusiastically welcomed by all our fans.

And she is grateful for all the support that the side have received this season in chasing the WSL title.

“Just thank you for holding on,” she joked when sending out a message to the supporters.

“Obviously, I love this club and playing for it.

“I’m speaking on behalf of all the players as well, we can’t thank you enough for all the support you’ve given us this season.

“Long may that journey continue and I’m excited for the next few years staying in blue.”
