Lily Murphy says scoring her first City goal feels particularly special due to her lifelong affinity with the Club.

The teenager worked her way through the ranks to sign her first professional deal at the Joie Stadium last week, and marker her first senior start with a goal in our 2-0 win over St Polten.

Still just 18, Murphy’s pace and energy saw her named Player of the Match as City made it five wins from five in UEFA Women’s Champions League Group D.

It’s a feeling that the forward admits will stay with her for the rest of her life, describing her thought process as Aoba Fujino’s cross came her way.

“I’m buzzing to get a goal and player of the match. It’s a surreal feeling,” she said.

“It doesn’t feel real. It’s such a proud moment for me and my family.”

“I think I saw Aoba get on the ball and thought, I need to get in there and thankfully I got there.

“I was staring at the goal thinking, ‘I just need to pass it in, don’t mess this up’.

“It’s been crazy, I’m so proud, this is my childhood club so it’s so special to do it here.”
