City moved nine points clear at the top of the WSL table with a 2-1 win at the Copperjax Community Stadium.
Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s 86th-minute strike proved the difference in London, as she fired home from close-range after a goalmouth scramble.
With Chelsea losing to Arsenal the day before, the Blues knew we could take advantage and extend our lead at the WSL summit with a positive result.
MATCH REPORT: LONDON CITY 1-2 MANCHESTER CITY
Kerolin fired home an early opener after being sent through by Vivianne Miedema to hand us a dream start, but the hosts piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser.
Isobel Goodwin was their main threat in the first half, forcing an excellent one-on-one save from Ayaka Yamashita before then seeing a header smash against the crossbar a few minutes later.
The hosts did draw level after the hour mark, though, with Freya Gregory finding the top corner from a tight angle.
And it looked like City would have to settle for a point until Shaw’s late intervention, which also extended our winning run in the WSL to 12 in the process.
