Lucy Bronze has described winning the 2020 Best FIFA Women’s Player of the Year as "unbelievable".

The defender was awarded the coveted prize during a virtual ceremony on Thursday.

She was also named in the FIFPRO Women’s World XI for the third time.

She says this award is seen as the “pinnacle” across the game because it is voted for by fellow professionals.

“To win an award like this is the pinnacle of most players’ careers - it’s unbelievable,” she said.

“To know you’re the best in your position and that’s what everyone thinks is fantastic.

“The players who play against you know better than anyone, so to be consistently named in the team for the last three years means more than winning a one-off award.”
