Capture a brief recap of our comeback victory over Aston Villa in the Barclays Women's Super League.

Second half goals from Lauren Hemp and Jill Roord ensured we took all three points in and returned to the top of the WSL table and extended our unbeaten start to the 2024/25 campaign to nine in all competitions.

City’s patience finally paid off just after the hour when Hemp hooked an effort over her shoulder and past Villa keeper Sabrina D’Angelo.

That strike cancelled out an opener from Gabi Nunes, who had stolen a yard on her marker to guide an effort into the far corner in the 20th minute.

But Hemp’s strike finally broke the Villans’ resistance and, eight minutes after the equaliser, Jill Roord fired in a second after some neat work from Hemp in the build up.

It was the Dutch international’s first goal since returning from her Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury, with the midfielder rifling home a ferocious effort to hand City a deserved three points.
