Nick Cushing’s team ensured we would take an advantage into the deciding leg at Stamford Bridge after recording a strong 2-0 win over the Londoners at the Joie Stadium.
Second-half goals from Vivianne Miedema helped us to the success in Europe as we inflicted Sonia Bompastor’s side their first defeat of the season in all competitions.
Despite an end-to-end encounter across the opening exchanges, neither side could break the deadlock before the interval as the fixture remained in the balance.
However, Cushing introduced Miedema from the substitutes at half-time and she scored the opener when showing her poacher’s instinct to react quickly to tuck home after the ball had crashed into the bar.
Chelsea pushed for an equaliser and saw an effort of their own hit the woodwork before the Netherlands international doubled our advantage with a drilled effort in the closing stages.
