Second half goals from Chloe Kelly and Lauren Hemp earned City top spot in Group B and a place in Friday’s quarter-final draw.
Kelly handed the hosts the lead soon after the restart with a powerful drive, having cleverly shifted play onto her right foot.
And a second would follow from her fellow England international with 20 to play, when Hemp was alert to a loose ball after Kerstin Casparij‘s initial effort had been parried into a dangerous area by Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

United halved the deficit deep into stoppage time through Nikita Parris and threw everything at City in a desperate attempt to force a penalty shootout, but the hosts held firm to deservedly gain the three points.
It’s the second time this season that we’ve come out on top in the derby, having claimed a memorable 3-1 Barclays Women’s Super League triumph at Old Trafford back in November.
Our latest victory fell on a significant milestone for our Women’s team, who celebrated ten years of professional football on Wednesday 24 January.
