A second-half brace from Lauren Hemp moved City up to second for at least 24 hours in our final home match of 2023.
The hosts knew a win would pile the pressure on our rivals, but it was the visitors who took an early lead through an inventive early finish from Danielle Turner.
Gareth Taylor‘s side continued to pile on the pressure in search of the equaliser, and would have to wait until the hour mark for it to arrive.
And it came when Hemp met Chloe Kelly‘s far post cross to head home past Daphne van Domselaar after arriving late in the box.
The goal swung the game’s momentum in our favour, and we made that pressure count soon after when Hemp was once again in the right place at the right time.
Indeed, the game’s decisive goal saw the winger poke Alex Greenwood‘s header over the line to seal a crucial three points.
