After Filippa Angeldahl opened the scoring for Gareth Taylor’s side at Prenton Park, the Australia international did well to double our lead 15 minutes from time to secure three points.
The 19-year-old shook off her marker and darted into the box to meet Lauren Hemp’s pinpoint cross from the left, powering the ball home from close range.
By doubling our lead against the Reds, it represents her third goal since joining the Club in June 2022.

And after a hard-fought victory extended our winning streak to nine consecutive matches, Fowler explained she was pleased to reward City’s play with a goal.
“I’m super happy I could get a goal for this team. It’s been a great night out here and everyone worked hard,” she reflected.
“So to be able to get on the end of a good team play and then to score that was a great feeling.
“That [running into the box] was literally what was on my mind [when Lauren got the ball]. I was like ‘run!’ It was good.
“We’ve got a great squad. The starting XI isn’t always the one that finishes it so we need to have players that are coming in off the bench and doing well.
“Or players who don’t start on the weekend but can start in the cup games and also do well. The team as a whole has been doing really well and we keep on getting wins which is great.
“I think we played really well. We went out there and we did what we needed to do today and just adding to the long run of wins we’ve been having so it’s great [for] momentum.”
Not only did City welcome back Hemp to the field in the success over Matt Beard’s side, but Alanna Kennedy also returned from injury to play the full-90 minutes.
It was undoubtedly a great moment for the Australia international as she was back on the pitch for the first time this term following a shoulder injury.
And for her Matildas teammate Fowler, she’s delighted to be sharing the field with her again.
“We’ve missed her,” she added
“It’s been a while and it’s been unfortunate for her to be out so long but it’s great to have her back and she did great tonight.”
